Lake
Tahoe has an environmental authority, The Tahoe Regional
Planning Agency (TRPA) with a federal mandate that is
charged with protecting Lake Tahoe as a national treasure
for the benefit of current and future generations. The
TRPA vision is to have a lake and environment that is
clean, healthy and sustainable for the community and future
generations.
Current and future homeowners of any property within the
Lake Tahoe basin should know about the TRPA and its rules
and regulations. The TRPA has a positive effect on maintaining
lake clarity and the overall environmental health of the
Tahoe basin. There are growth and improvement restrictions
